Leadership and Moral Rejuvenation of a Society

June 10, 2020June 10, 2020 / onetusk / Leave a comment

Man is essentially an imitating animal. This is a psychological truth. Students can be disciplined only when teachers are well behaved. The minor officials of a country cannot be kind and honest when the rulers are corrupt tyrants. Children’s behaviour depends entirely upon , and is ever controlled by , the standard of purity and culture set by their parents . The moral rejuvenation of a society in any period of history can take place only because of the example set by the leaders  of that nation.

– Swamy Chinmayananda from Holy Gita , Ready Reference

And the lifting of humanity to its inherent nature… which has begun….

April 9, 2020April 9, 2020 / onetusk / 2 Comments

“As the world is lifted, as a new template is claimed, what you know of, what you have believed would always be there, must be reckoned with. And a reckoning, a facing of oneself and one’s creations, must indeed extend to the manifest world and what humanity has claimed in a need to control, in a need to justify greed or authority over others. And the walls will tremble, yes, but they are the walls of separation. And when they fall, they may be re-known in a higher way.

It  is never about being busy and not having time…. It is always about priorities, getting organised and care….

What if we raised a generation so that they learned to be “conflict literate?”

February 10, 2020February 9, 2020 / onetusk / Leave a comment
  1. What if we raised a generation so that they learned to be “conflict literate?”
  2. What if we students in business, management, law, and even medicine learned how to turn conflict from a liability into an asset?
  3. What if all of us at diverse faith-based schools taught about other systems of belief?
  4. What if we created in every community a public space designed for dialogue?
  5. What if we developed news media that were a laboratory for negotiation and dialogue?
  6. What if those of us in education learned and applied the tools of the Mediator?
  7. What if we voters supported political candidates who ran campaigns that strengthened communities rather than dividing them to get the most votes?
  8. What if we encouraged the U.S. Congress and other national legislatures to have an Office of Facilitation?
Some do not understand
that we must die,
But those who do realize this
settle their quarrels.
~ The Buddha Continue reading →

Civilised Society?

January 11, 2020 / onetusk / Leave a comment

a hunter, a European hunter, was lost in a forest in Africa. Suddenly he came upon a few huts. He had never heard that a village existed in that thick forest; it was not on any map. So he approached the chief of the village, and said, ‘It is a pity that you are lost to civilization.’ The chief said, ‘No, it is not a pity. We are always afraid of being discovered – once civilization comes in we are lost.’

– Osho

selective change

November 28, 2019 / onetusk / Leave a comment

Successful coping with either external or internal pressures requires selective change. That’s as true of nations as of individuals. The key word here is “selective.” It’s neither possible nor desirable for individuals or nations to change completely, and to discard everything of their former identities. The challenge, for nations as for individuals in crisis, is to figure out which parts of their identities are already functioning well and don’t need changing, and which parts are no longer working and do need change.

Understanding and tolerance of other cultures is not a weakness, not a sign of inadequate patriotism

Understanding and tolerance of other cultures is not a weakness, not a sign of inadequate patriotism, not an indication that we are rootless “citizens of nowhere.” In reality, it reflects our preparation for the world of tomorrow, where we will become ever more mixed as peoples, even as we study, value, and preserve our collective cultural heritage.
