Hide man’s divinity….

It is said that in ancient times the gods decided to hide man’s divinity from him. They were afraid if man discovered the truth of his grandeur he would surpass even the gods in his knowledge and bliss. And so, they debated where to hide man’s divinity. One god suggested that the highest mountaintop would make the best hiding place. Surely those frozen desolate peaks would elude man’s search. But that solution was deemed unacceptable by the other gods. They knew that man is always seeking to conquer new heights. Similarly, the possibilities of the deepest seas and the widest deserts were considered for hiding places of man’s divinity. But, whatever place the gods imagined in all the worlds, they knew that man would ultimately go there, for man is always searching in the world. And so, they settled on a brilliant plan. They would hide man’s divinity in his own heart. His own heart was surely the last place he would look. For man has little inclination to look within himself.
