Random Acts of Kindness

I am done with great things and big plans, great institutions and big successes. I am for those tiny, invisible loving human forces that work from individual to individual, creeping through the crannies of the world like so many rootlets, or like the capillary oozing of water, yet which, if given time, will rend the hardest monuments of human pride.

  1. “I remembered a radio campaign several years ago, asking listeners to phone or email in with examples of random acts of kindness they had done to strangers, to spread some goodwill and happiness to those around them. Their target was a million random acts of kindness and I thought, ‘What a great way to ‘take back’ our streets and do something, however small, to restore our faith in humanity and appreciate what we have in this world’. So, from today, I’m going to try and look for opportunities during each day to help others – whether it’s something as small as offering my seat on a busy train, or helping someone with their heavy shopping, or even just spreading a smile. And hopefully these random acts of kindness, will spread to others and help us to take back our world, through the power of positivity and humanity.” – Geetha Maheshwaran in BBC Radio Programme ‘Pause for Thought’.
