Book Recommendation : The Law of Attraction Made Simple by Jonathan Manske

The Law of Attraction Made Simple: Magnetize Your Heartfelt Desires
I knew about this book for a couple of years, but didn’t buy it, figuring “What else can be said about the law of attraction that hasn’t already been said 10,00 times?” Finally I did, and it was a revelation! I would have to say it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. His explanation that the law of attraction is like gravity at last made the concept concrete to me, and I have used several of his techniques over and over. I especially like the “wonder” concept, the difference between being “committed” to an outcome versus “attached”, and the Grand Canyon technique. The situation I’ve been visualizing has become stronger and stronger, not only in the exercise, but also in real life! Thanks, Jonathan, for this rich source of simple, intriguing methods…

Happiness is a choice not a result!

What you need to realize is that happiness is a choice not a result! This is so important that it is worth repeating: Happiness is a choice! You can be happy for no other reason than because you choose to be happy, regardless of the circumstances. Here is a story that illustrates this really well: A 92-year-old man had to move into a nursing home. His wife of 70 years had recently passed away which made his move necessary. After several hours of waiting in the lobby of the nursing home, he was told that his new room was ready. The person guiding him to his new room started to describe the room. “I love it!” He stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old with a new puppy. The person who was leading him to his room said, “we haven’t got there yet just wait.” “That doesn’t have anything to do with it,” the old man replied. “Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not does not depend on how the furniture is arranged. It’s how I arrange my mind. I have already decided to love it!” “It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.” “Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I have stored away.” ~source unknown

So, what do you want to be when you grow up?

HABIT 2 – BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND

So, what do you want to be when you grow up? That question may appear a little trite, but think about it for a moment. Are you–right now–who you want to be, what you dreamed you’d be, doing what you always wanted to do? Be honest. Sometimes people find themselves achieving victories that are empty–successes that have come at the expense of things that were far more valuable to them. If your ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step you take gets you to the wrong place faster.

Habit 2 is based on imagination–the ability to envision in your mind what you cannot at present see with your eyes. It is based on the principle that all things are created twice. There is a mental (first) creation, and a physical (second) creation. The physical creation follows the mental, just as a building follows a blueprint. If you don’t make a conscious effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life, then you empower other people and circumstances to shape you and your life by default. It’s about connecting again with your own uniqueness and then defining the personal, moral, and ethical guidelines within which you can most happily express and fulfill yourself. Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen.

The Law of Attraction and the Law of Action are like your two legs

Somewhere in your life you have probably been told that hard work is the key to success. If this were in fact true, the people who are working two or three jobs to keep their head above water would be tremendously successful. Continue reading

We should listen truly

“It is important to know how to listen, not only to me particularly, but to anybody. It is important to know how to listen because if we know how to listen truly, something extraordinary happens to us, because then without any bias, without any prejudice, we can go to the root of the matter immediately. But if we throw up a lot of arguments, concoct devices or contradictions to see who is correct and who is not correct and carry on with our own particular idiosyncrasies and ideas, then we will not discover the truth of the matter at all. We shall only be concerned with our own particular conclusions, with our own point of view. So if I may suggest, it is important that we should listen truly because if we can know how to listen, the truth will reveal itself. We do not have to explore the problem, but if we know how to listen to the song of a bird, to the voice of another, if we can listen as to music without any interpretation or translation, it definitely clarifies the mind; so similarly, if it is possible, let us listen with that intention – not to confute or to conform, but to directly find out the truth for ourselves.”
